British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
